It’s time for our annual Pinewood Derby!

Join us for a fun-filled night of racing, cheering, and showing off the creativity and craftsmanship of our troop.

📅 Date: Sunday Dec 7th
⏰ Time: 4pm until Last Heat and Awards 6ish
📍 Location: Community Bible Church

Bring your best car design—whether it’s fast, flashy, or just plain fun. We’ll have:

  • Racing heats : Woodlands(k-5th) Nav/Adv(6th-12) Dads League
  • Awards for Speed, Creativity, Craftsmanship
  • Snacks & fellowship for families and Trailmen
  • Special exhibition runs for leaders, siblings, and parents who want to join the fun!

Car Check-In & Weigh-In:
Please arrive early to get your cars inspected and weighed so we can start the races on time.

Let’s make this year’s Pinewood Derby our best yet.
Parents, bring your cameras. Trailmen, bring your best teamwork and sportsmanship!

🏁 Pinewood Derby All Trailmen — Quick Rule Summary

1. Car Specs

  • Must use the official Pinewood Derby block, wheels, and axles.
  • Max weight: 5.0 ounces.
  • Max length: 7 inches.
  • Max width: 2.75 inches.

2. Wheels & Axles

  • Wheels must be official and unmodified (light sanding allowed).
  • Axles must be visible—no hidden wheels.
  • Car must roll on four wheels, though not all must touch.

3. Safety & Fairness

  • No springs, magnets, liquid lubricants, or motors.
  • Only dry lubricants (graphite) allowed.

4. Check-In

  • Cars must pass weigh-in and inspection before racing.
  • Once checked in, no further modifications.

5. Racing

  • Each car races multiple heats.
  • Winners determined by fastest overall time.
  • Awards for speed, design, and creativity.

6. Cheer on you fellow Trailmen!

🏁 Dad’s League — Unlimited Class (No Motors!) Rules

1. Build Anything You Want… Almost

  • Unlimited class means any shape, any design, any wacky idea.
  • NO motors, engines, blowers, rockets, rubber-band drives, or propulsion of any kind.
  • Gravity only!

2. Weight & Size

  • Max weight: ???? (Dad cars can get heavy, just be careful you don’t over do it.).
  • Must still fit and sit at the gate and on the track and safely roll down without damaging it.
  • If it doesn’t fit through the starting gate or finish line sensors, it doesn’t race.

3. Wheels & Axles

  • Any wheels and axles allowed as long as:
    • They actually roll
    • They don’t damage the track
  • No metal spikes or sharp edges.

4. Safety & Track Respect

  • No flames, no explosives, no leaking fluids.
  • Cars must be safe to handle and run. (We are serious this time Brian.)

5. No Cheating (ok maybe a little)

  • Car must start from the release gate—no “accidental” shoves.
  • No funny business like interfering with the track or other cars.
  • Your entire car must finish the race.

6. Race Format

  • Multiple heats.
  • Fastest total time wins.
  • Bonus points for ridiculousness, style, and dad-level over-engineering.

7. Spirit of Fun

  • This league is for bragging rights and laughs—build big, build wild, and have fun.
